Texturing Frequently Asked Questions Orange_Pixel

1. What preparation do I need to do for a lime wash or flaky ceiling?

Firstly scrape away any loose particles, then apply Wondertex Stabiliser, allowing two hours before applying the second coat.

2. What should I do if the ceiling has cracks?

Firstly tape over the crack using Wondertex Premier 5 with white jointing tape.
Apply Premier 5 to crack, then place white tape into the premier 5 and with a caulker press and squeeze away excess premier 5.
Leave Premier 5 to firm up, then apply a caulking coat of premier 5 over the tape, then texture to a finish.

3. What preparation is needed for high porosity substrates?
All porous substrates will need two or three coats of Wondertex Vinyl Acetate Sealer. This is done to eliminate pin holing and cracking, therefore helping coverage and workability.

4. Which Wondertex product should I use in high moisture atmospheres or penetrating wetness?
Wondertex highly recommend their high quality washable material, there is no need for any special preparation with this product.

5. What Preparation is needed for concrete ceilings?
For the successful adhesion of texture to concrete ceilings, we highly recommend that you firstly seal the surface with a stabiliser; then caulk the whole area with Premier 5, coating over all the pin holes and shutter joints. Leave to semi dry before applying the final texture.

6. How do I prevent discolouration? Is it possible to prevent staining?
If you know that plasterboard has been fixed for quite some time, then you need to take the following steps to prevent the risk of staining:

After preparation and before applying your final coat; apply a sealer to the whole area. Apply texture and open windows to allow uniform drying.

Closed windows will aggravate the situation and will slow the drying process.

Can I speed up the drying time?
In situations where it is unlikely that drying will be achieved in 5 days, heaters may be used.
